Hackers target the highstreet. [article]

The "Hackers Panel" at the InfoSecurity Europe conference in London this week gave their view of the next victims of cybercrime - big UK highstreet retailers. Many have embraced the web to advance their business model and will now be easy targets compared to banks and govenment services.
More in this article about the rise in attacks from China and the possible cover this gives to western governments efforts at cyber warfare!

Topless Meetings! [article] [fact]

An interesting article about the new trend in topless meetings - that's lap-topless.
I know that when people are multi-tasking they are also half-ignoring you, especially men... sorry guys but it's a documented fact - all that hunter-gatherer ancestry, it's in your genes.

Content Cloud v2.0

Check out the new 3D version of my content cloud (righthand side of this page) mouse over to navigate, click to activate links. I've been dabbling with the action script code every now and again in my spare time.
The next step is to dynamically update the text and links from an XML file, not sure when I'll get round to doing that...

High Profile Identity Theft [link]

Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson tried to make the point that the spectre of identity theft was a sham. He printed his bank details in his newspaper column and gave instructions on how to find his address.
Clarkson has now revealed the stunt backfired and his details were used to set up a £500 direct debit payable from his account to the British Diabetic Association - proving identity theft is real easy... Read more about his blunder.

The conference at Hong Kong Uni of Science and Technology was informative - my demo was well received (see previous post Oct '07).
The highlights for me being John Milton with his software tools and Richard Pemberton's examination into social networking sites for language learning.
